How was the seminar? P*ssed that I missed it but that's life. Did Neil do any groundwork as well as stand up, making the juji gatame (armbar) in particular cause I'm told that is his speciality? Also did he aim it all at Judo rules or adapt it for BJJ or Vale Tudo e.g. takedowns that 'could the gap' quickly and be pulled off successfully against a good puncher or kicker?

I'll expect the 'should have come then would'nt have to ask' response!

What I mean by 'closing the gap' (old jeet-kune-do term) is getting in past the oppositions defences, without getting banged, to get your grip and deliver an effective takedown, either by dodging his defence or trapping / parrying his defence. In applying Judo technique against a striking defence (provided both wearing Gi) it would generally be done by grabbing the opponents sleeves and using then to keep him moving about and off-ballance so he cannot land and effective kick.

Anyway back to the question, did he do any of this and adapt for a strikers defence, or was everything geared at working within judo's defensive limitations.
