Breaking Ground Strangles - Yellow Belt Traditional Jujitsu

Breaking Ground Strangle (Rotate Bent Arms)

This technique is used when your attacker is strangling you from the mount with their arms slightly bent.

Place your left hand on top of your attackers right elbow and place your right hand under their left elbow.

Trap your attackers right ankle with your left foot.

Thrust your hips up and at the same time pull your left hand down as you push your right hand up to roll your attacker off.

Breaking Ground Strangle (Rotate Straight Arms)

This technique is used when your attacker is strangling you from the mount with their arms straight.

Take your left hand over your attackers right arm and take your right hand under their left arm. Now place your hands together.

Trap your attackers right ankle with your left foot.

Thrust your hips up and at the same time pull your left elbow down and push your right elbow up to roll your attacker off.

Breaking Ground Strangle (Upward Lift Escape)

This technique is used when your attacker is strangling you from the mount.

Take your right hand up between your attackers arms and cup their right wrist with your thumb on top.

Grab your attackers right elbow with your left hand.

Trap your attackers right ankle with your left foot.

Thrust your hips up and roll onto your left shoulder to escape the strangle.

Breaking Ground Strangle (Lift Roll)

This technique is used when your attacker is strangling you from the mount with their arms straight.

Strike with a double palm heel to your attackers solar plexus and grab their gi.

Thrust your hips up to throw your attacker over your head.

Now roll your attacker to the left.

Breaking Ground Strangle (Side Attack)

This technique is used when your attacker is strangling you from the side.

Cup your attackers right wrist with your right hand with your thumb on top. Secure their right elbow with your left hand as shown.

Bring your right knee up between your body and your attacker.

Swing your left leg over your attackers head and pinch your knees together to get a secure hold of their arm.

Bend your left leg and grab your attackers right wrist with both hands. Ensure that their thumb is pointing up. Now raise your hips and keep their hand pinned to your chest.
