I was checking out some fighters profiles the other day and I notcied that Bas Rutten has won a match via submission (body crunch) and Rodrigo Nogueira has won a match via anaconda choke! What the hell is a body crunch and anaconda choke? anyone know?

its kinda like an arm triangle from another angle

I think I can see what it is, but how the hell do you pull that off?!?!?!?! A normal triangle is hard enough to get a tap straight away.

it becomes obvious when you do it! and its easier to catch cos you can catch it when you sprawl as a defence to their shoot

Easy to catch yeah, but surely not easy to get a tap???
That's my point. The Admin Guy

it is if you do it properly

Is there a similar one but done on the kneck? I seem to remember something like this being applied to my very own kneck.....:-p

Surely your legs are stronger than your arms, so a standard triangle would be easier to get a tap, but my point is, even a normal triangle is tricky to get a quick tap, so surely this thing would take even longer.
Sl, what's a kneck? :-)) The Admin Guy

Hi all.
That sort of choke works a lot better and faster with a Gi where you would wrap up the neck and grap your own gi to pull in on tight and then roll to your left grabbing their right arm on the way over to get and arm bar as well. It comes on really quickly, I got put to sleep like that just last week. zzzzzzzz lol. |

Hey Rob.
I just got my brown belt in Ju Jitsu. More BJJ than TJJ but our club isn't affiliated with the Gracies Dojo as far as I know. Most of our techniques are groundwork, a lot like your BJJ vids (very cool by the way), with some silat knifework and boah stuff. We also do a fair few escrima stick disarms (which I love practicing) and the Dan grades at the club are currently putting together a set of "Grappling with sticks" techniques (which scares the proverbial out of me). |

mixing BJJ with sticks! wtf?!?!?!?! :-))
Would love to see what they come up with, seriously! The Admin Guy

Yeh, sounds bizarre I know :-D. Not competition stuff obviously, lol.
To be honest you'd have to be damn good to escape if someone really was choking you with half a pool cue, I wouldn't like to have to find out if I could in a real ruck. |

Hi trevek, I think most of our weapon drills came from Mike Gray, JKD, he's a good egg. I'd like to do more traditional weapons stuff like chucks and Bo/Jo staff at some point too.

chucks are brilliant fun,the range they have is just nice and the close quarter techniques ive been shown are awesome, some of the throws which are possibe are well feirce! the bo and jo staffs are bloody good fun aswell! :-D
