what is the sound of one hand clapping?

Probably the same as the noise a tree makes when it falls over when there's no-one there to hear it?

I seem to recall this was covered in a "Sipmsons" episode.

According to DEATH in Terry Pratchett's 'Soul Music' it is 'cla' as the other hand makes the 'p' sound.

in my view it doesnt make any noise-- because there is no such thing as a 1 handed clap... a clap implies both hands coming together, so with one hand you would just bll it hit something.

Try claping one hand only near to your ear and this is the sound it makes! What you hear is the sound of the hand moving through the air not the sound of two hands coming together. The same sound is present when two hands are clapped its just that you do not focus on that sound as it is less significant to the sound of the hands contacting.....in relation to MA philosophy study the whole technique, the preparation & build up to the delivery and not just the end result, this way you will get the build up & delivery right so that the end result will follow.
