Counter Measures Against Garroting - Blue Belt Traditional Jujitsu

Counter Measure Against Garroting (Double Leg Takedown)

The first technique is used when your attacker is garroting you from behind.

Take a small step to the left with your left foot and strike with an elbow to their stomach.

Now bend down slightly and turn clockwise so you are now facing your attacker. Be ready to defend any knee strikes with your hands.

Cup round the back of your attackers knees and place your right shoulder against their ribs.

To throw your attacker, push with your shoulder and pull their knees back.

Counter Measure Against Garroting (Hip Throw)

This technique is again used when your attacker is garroting you from behind.

Take a small step to the left with your left foot and strike with an elbow to their stomach.

Place your right hand round the back of your attacker and secure their right arm with your left hand. Also bring your left foot back in slightly ready for a standard hip throw.

Bend your knees and pull your attacker onto your back.

Straighten your legs ready to throw your attacker.

Take your head down to your left knee to throw your attacker onto the floor.

Counter Measure Against Garroting (Cross Hock Throw)

This technique is used when your attacker is garroting you from the front.

Place your left hand on top of your attackers right elbow and your right hand under their left elbow. Now step forward and to the left with your left foot.

From this angle you can see the position of your right hand.

Swing your right leg behind your attackers right leg ready for the cross hock throw.

Now sweep your attackers right leg forward to throw them backwards.

Counter Measure Against Garroting (Head Hip Throw)

This final technique is again used when your attacker is garroting you from the front.

Strike with your right forearm to the left side of your attackers neck.

Turn anti-clockwise so you have your back to your attacker. Use your right arm to grip their neck and secure their right arm. Now bend your knees and pull your attacker onto your back ready for a head hip throw.

Straighten your legs ready for the throw.

Now take your head down to your left knee to throw your attacker off your back.
