Three Standing Arm Locks - Yellow Belt Traditional Jujitsu

Standing Arm Lock (Left Hand Head Block)

This arm lock is used against a hammer fist or bottle attack.

When your attacker throws the strike, block it with a left handed head block and step forward on your left foot.

Take your right hand under your attackers right bicep as shown.

Hold your left wrist with your right hand and slide your right foot forward so your feet are level. Now push your hands down to the ground whilst raising your right elbow.

Standing Arm Lock (Right Hand Head Block)

This arm lock is applied from a hammer fist or bottle attack.

When your attacker strikes, block it with a right handed head block and step forward on your right foot.

Grab your attackers right wrist with your right hand.

Step forward with your left foot so that you are stood next to your attacker and deliver a left handed palm heel to the side of their face.

Strike the inside of your attackers right elbow with your left forearm to bend their arm.

Now grab your right wrist with your left hand as shown.

Step back slightly with your left foot so you are facing behind your attacker and push your hands down to the ground.

Standing Arm Lock (Downward Block)

This arm lock is used when your attacker throws an upper-cut punch followed by a left hook.

When your attacker strikes, block it with left handed downward block and step forward with your left foot.

Grab your attackers right wrist with your right hand.

Twist clockwise on the ball of your left foot to setup a straight arm-lock (as seen on White Belt). As you do this your attacker throws a left hook. Block this strike with your left arm as shown.

Grab your attackers left wrist with your left hand as shown.

Take your attackers left hand under their right armpit as shown. Now push their right wrist down to the ground.
