This is a great resource site for JuJitsu beginners (like me). You put a great image across of the sport and I love the techniques run throughs. Keep up the great work here and ignore your sceptics. Undoubtably one of the best sites of its kind on the net.

My fiance is a black belt in Kimpo Karate. As a b-day gift, she got me 3 months of lessons (that she goes to as well) in BJJ. So far, I've really enjoyed it. She felt this was her weakness (although before we even started she could submit me easily) and figured we would both benefit from it.
I use this site to learn techniques we haven't officially learned yet, and apply them when we are practicing to give me an edge.

Very good site. Everyone obviously has their own opinion - and everyone is different. For me, I beleive that for as effective as possible self-defence one must have primarily a good attitude (eg:to avoid fight in first place and not let ego get in the way!), secondarily to have good grappling and striking technique. I've only seen videos of the Gracie Brothers on video before - but was greatly impressed by what I saw. I'm still a great ebliever personally though that Western Boxing, combined with good grappling techniques is the best for me (and possibly most others in a realistic situation). Having tried hand-techniques from a few styles of Eastern martial Arts, none have the versatility, power or effectiveness of Western Boxing. I couldn't recommend it enough to anyone wishing to improve hand-technique (obviously I'm slightly biased!...But I'm middle-aged now and left most of my ego behind long ago!lol). I wish all who practice martial arts that they get the most out of it for themselves - and best wishes to BJJ if I had my time again, I'd have liked to have tried it out! (But in the North of Scotland where I'm from, there was none!) Apologies for any typos!!
